A New Era for Holt Players!

Farewell to a legend… and welcome to fresh energy!

Big news from Holt Players – after seventeen incredible years (on and off) at the helm, the brilliant Kate Palmer has stepped down as Chair. Kate has been nothing short of a force of nature. She led us through thick and thin – including the dark days of Covid, when the Society nearly folded – and brought us back stronger than ever.

Under Kate’s passionate leadership, we’ve not only grown in numbers and reputation but also refreshed our name to better reflect who we are today: an open, inclusive, award-winning community theatre group with heart, ambition and flair.

Kate’s contributions are too many to list – directing hit productions, giving unforgettable performances, and winning the prestigious Rose Bowl Award for her riotous turn as Mistress Quickly in The Merry Wives of Windsor/Holt. We’re thrilled she’s not going far – she’ll continue as our much-loved Friends’ Secretary. Thank you, Kate, for everything. You’ve left a lasting legacy.

🌟 Stepping into the spotlight as our new Chair is none other than Sue Bolden!

Sue brings a treasure trove of experience, having twice chaired The Bradfordians and performed in a dazzling range of roles – from Shakespeare to Calendar Girls (“we only stripped to the waist!”), musicals to murder mysteries. Sue cheerfully calls herself a “Jill of all trades” and says she’s happy to do anything – “crowd, chorus or third pike carrier… or even prompt. I just love being part of a production.”

Since moving to Holt in 2014, Sue has been a core part of our group, serving for eight years as Membership Secretary. Her energy, humour and love for theatre make her the perfect person to lead us into this exciting new chapter.

🎉 Welcoming New Faces!

We’re also thrilled to announce that Ian Settle is stepping into the Membership Secretary role, and Kirstin West, one of our newer members, has joined the Committee to lead our social media and digital presence. With this dynamic team in place, Holt Players is set to reach more people, stage bolder productions, and bring even more joy to our community.
